Paris Saint-Germain to Offer World Record £150 Million for Cristiano Ronaldo

Reports in the Sunday Times this weekend claimed that the Ligue 1 Giants would be willing to splash out a world-record €150million to sign the Portuguese star, and improve his salary to some £285,000 per week after tax. But sources at PSG have told Spanish sports daily AS that the claims are simply not true. "It is totally false," a senior figure told the Madrid-based newspaper.
Relations between the clubs have been amicable, with the respective presidents negotiating deals for Carlo Ancelotti and Angel Di Maria in recent years. And AS also claims that Real Madrid chief has an agreement with PSG owner Nasser El-Khelaifi to conduct all business face-to-face, rather than manoeuvring to sign each other's players. Marco Verratti and Thiago Silva have both been Madrid targets in recent years but haven't been subject to the Spanish giants' sometimes rather muscular public pursuits.

Why GTA 5 PC is the definitive version of Rockstar's epic

Grand Theft Auto 5 feels like it's worth the wait. I played the PC version for the first time recently, and although 17 months is hell of a long time, this absolutely plays like the ultimate version of the open-world sequel that Rockstar first released on consoles in 2013.

There's no doubt some skepticism based on some past ports of Rockstar games, like GTA 4, and the ongoing, slightly heartbreaking absence of Red Dead Redemption on PC might make you wonder how much the publisher values the platform next to consoles. Max Payne 3 was a vast improvement, though, and I see no reason to be concerned with GTA 5 either—this port looks incredible and I swore a hell of a lot (in a good way) at the gorgeous skylines during my hands-on. This is a handsome game.

I was shown the game in 4K resolution running at 60fps. The PC Rockstar was demoing it on is outside the price range of most consumers, with an i7 5930k@3.50GHz, SLI GTX 980, 32GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, but that’s just to show off how pretty it can look. Rockstar says that even average rigs won’t have a problem getting great 1080p performance out of the game, which is encouraging. Scalability is a priority for them.
If you’d like to know the full range of graphics options available in GTA 5, I’ve  collected them in a separate story, but I think they’re as much as players could ask for. The fact Rockstar let me share them with you is rare for a press demo, where a lot of those details are locked down until release, sometimes not for the best reasons—it demonstrates a real degree of confidence in the port.

Having mostly skipped the next-gen console editions while waiting for the PC release, the PC version of GTA 5 looks like an entirely new game to me. First of all, 60fps makes a hell of a difference. You can’t get this in any of the console versions, so on that level alone makes GTA 5 PC the superior version. Seeing this extraordinary environment run so smoothly while you’re driving through it is a treat.

The demo starts with Franklin, one of GTA 5's three protagonists, at the top of the colossal Mount Chiliad. The land mass of Los Santos looks extraordinary from here and there's already a stunning difference from this view—every detail is so sharp from even miles out, with an absurd draw distance stretching far into the horizon. It’s a true "holy shit" moment. This is so far beyond what I remember playing the game for over 50 hours on Xbox 360, and beyond what the next-gen consoles are capable of.

Franklin drives a motorbike off a ramp and soars towards the ground, eventually parachuting to a soft landing before getting in a car. Soon control is handed to me and I drive from the hills into the city. I arrive on the trashy, well-lit Vinewood Boulevard at night—Los Santos’s Hollywood analogue—and just drive up and down absorbing the detail. The layout is the same as I remember it, but it’s like going from being short-sighted (or hungover) to having perfect vision: I’m impressed by how beautiful the lighting is, how the reflections look on cars at night, how convincing the weather effects are. This is exactly how I hoped the PC port would shape up. It makes me want to chuck my 780 in the bin and get 4K-ready immediately.

I explored a decent cross-section of the game during my demo. First, Rockstar gets me to try out a single-player heist. This one involves digging into an underground bank vault and making off with some gold by helicopter. Heists bring Franklin, Michael and Trevor together, and require that you choose crew members and do some preparation before pulling off a big job.

Pacers’ Chris Copeland and 2 Women Are Stabbed Outside Manhattan Club

A former New York Knicks forward who now plays for the Indiana Pacers was stabbed in the abdomen during an argument early Wednesday outside a club in Manhattan, the authorities said.

The player, identified by Pacers officials as Chris Copeland, 31, was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center. The injury was not considered life-threatening, the police said.

A companion of Mr. Copeland, Katrine Saltara, 28, was cut on the right arm and breast, and was also taken to Bellevue. A second woman, Catherine Somani, 23, an acquaintance of the attacker, was also slashed and was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital. Mr. Copeland and Ms. Saltara were in stable condition on Wednesday night. Ms. Somani was released.

Shevoy Bleary-Murdock, 22, was arrested and charged with felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Officers recovered a spring-operated knife outside the club, 1 Oak, on West 17th Street in Chelsea, the police said.

As the police established the crime scene, two Atlanta Hawks players who apparently were not with Mr. Copeland were arrested and charged with interfering in the investigation.
The stabbing, which occurred just before 4 a.m., came several hours after the Hawks arrived in New York from Atlanta, where they had set a single-season franchise record for victories on Tuesday with a blowout win over the Phoenix Suns. On Wednesday night, the Hawks defeated the Nets in Brooklyn, while the Pacers beat the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
The attack rattled the Pacers as they prepared to make a late-season playoff run, fueled by the return of their star player, Paul George, from a serious leg injury on Sunday. The Wednesday night results left Indiana one game out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
The police said they thought the attacker had been trying to listen to a conversation involving Mr. Copeland after he left the club, touching off the violent encounter.
The club, which opened in 2008, has become a magnet for celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio and Kanye West, as well as professional athletes. It was a spot favored by self-professed night life aficionado J. R. Smith before the Knicks traded him to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In a statement, a spokeswoman for 1 Oak said “the incident occurred beyond the view of our security.” Cellphone video footage obtained by TMZ Sports shows Mr. Copeland bleeding on the sidewalk, surrounded by police officers, in front of a building adjacent to 1 Oak.

Mr. Copeland, a 6-foot-8 forward from New Jersey, was not drafted out of the University of Colorado, setting him on a five-year journey overseas with several European teams. A smooth shooting stroke earned him a turn in New York after the Knicks signed him in 2012. But he has scored only about 6 points a game for the Pacers this season, and has recently fallen out of favor, often watching full games from the bench
Frank Vogel, the coach of the Pacers, said he learned of the stabbing from Kevin Pritchard, the team’s general manager. Mr. Vogel said he spoke with Mr. Copeland on Wednesday morning and that he had undergone surgery in the afternoon. He had planned to visit him in the hospital, but Mr. Copeland was unable to have visitors.
Mr. Vogel declined to say whether teammates or any of the team’s security personnel were with Mr. Copeland during the confrontation. “Obviously it hurts to see a teammate injured like this,” Mr. Vogel said, “but we’re trying to remain focused on the game tonight.”
Solomon Hill, a second-year forward with the Pacers, said the team did not impose a curfew the night before games. “We’re grown men,” he said. “So I think you don’t want to try to tell people what to do on their free time. But things happen. Even if you don’t have a curfew, things could happen.”
One of the two Hawks team members who were arrested, Thabo Sefolosha, 30, an eight-year veteran from Switzerland, was arraigned on charges of resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct after he ran “in an aggressive manner” toward a police officer who had his back turned to Mr. Sefolosha, according to a criminal complaint. It took four officers to place Mr. Sefolosha in handcuffs, the complaint says.

he other Atlanta player, Pero Antic, 32, who is from Macedonia, was arraigned on charges of obstructing governmental administration, harassment and disorderly conduct. While Mr. Sefolosha was being arrested, a criminal complaint says, Mr. Antic grabbed another officer’s shoulder.
A lawyer for the two players, Alex Spiro, of Brafman & Associates, said, “My clients committed no crime, should not have been arrested, and we fully expect this case to be dismissed.”

The Hawks put out a statement from Mike Budenholzer, the team’s coach. “The events of this morning involving Pero and Thabo were unfortunate as we never want to see our players put themselves in a potentially negative situation,” he said. “We will continue to look into the facts of the incident but with the information and foundation that we currently have established, we will support them through this process.”
The two players released a joint statement in which they apologized to their families, their teammates and the Hawks organization for “any negative attention this incident had brought upon them.”

“We will contest these charges and look forward to communicating the facts of the situation at the appropriate time,” they said.

Larry Bird, the president of basketball operations for the Pacers, said in a statement that “our thoughts are with Chris and those injured.”

"Furious 7" Had a different ending before Paul Walker Died.

Those of us who watched Furious 7 in theaters this past weekend were treated to a touching tribute to the late Paul Walker at the end.

Director James Wan and his crew used a combination of CGI, Wiz Khalifa’s "See You Again" and a montage of scenes from all the Fast and Furious films to give their brother a proper sendoff.

Though this moment brought many a tear to audiences around the world, Wan recently opened up about the ending that was originally planned prior to Walker’s tragic death.

Speaking with Collider, Wan said that the ending had originally served a much different purpose.
"The original ending of Furious 7 was setting up, you know, the bigger world of where the Fast and Furious franchise could go into. And that’s obviously very smart of them to think so. But when the tragedy happened, all of that became irrelevant. So it did not matter anymore, all of that stuff. And to the studio’s credit, they did not push for that. They realized how important it was to make a movie that finishes and that just outright is a tribute to Paul Walker. So I give them a lot of credit for being bigger than that and going along with this ending that is the right ending to go with."

Walker was taken from the world too soon after a car accident in 2013.

The actor had already filmed the majority of his scenes, which prompted the release to be pushed out of 2014 and the studio utilizing various methods to finish production.

Walker’s brothers, Cody and Caleb, were enlisted to help finish his remaining scenes, and CGI was used to bring Walker back for the Furious 7 ending. If you haven’t seen it, get a tissue, because Universal released the music video for "See You Again" that features footage from the scene.

MS Dhoni will be penniless one day: Yograj Singh curses India captain

Is it an emotion, wrath or anger? Yograj Singh, father of ace cricketer Yuvraj Singh, in a remark that could trigger a major controversy and war of words, has blasted India's ODI captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for his son's exclusion from the ICC World Cup 2015 squad.
An emotional Yograj also cursed the Indian captain to be left penniless one day.

"Dhoni was nothing. He has become a God in cricket just because of media. Media has crowned him as a great which he never deserved", Yograj told a Hindi news channel.

"There was a time when he had nothing but today he sits in front of media and rips off the media persons. He laughs at media who has given him so much hype. He laughs at the Indian people who clap when he scores a run," Yograj said.

"Honestly, if I were a media person, I would have slapped Dhoni right there", Yograj said.
Yuvraj, Man of the Series in the 2011 World Cup, was one of the five senior Indian cricketers who were ignored by the selectors for the World Cup this year. Yuvraj, along with Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan, were even excluded from India's 30-man preliminary squad for the mega event.

Yuvraj's father compared Dhoni with Ramayana's mythological villain Ravana.
"Dhoni is arrogant. The way Ravana's proud came to an end, Dhoni will also suffer some day. He considers himself much above Ravana," Yuvraj's father said.

"I feel really ashamed when other cricketers come and tell me about Dhoni. Earlier, I used to think that people must be cribbing about Dhoni due to jealousy. But when the cricketers told me about him, I think I have never seen a terrible person like him ever in my life," he added.

India, who lifted the World Cup in 2011, faced an ouster in the 2015 event when they lost to Australia in the semi-finals at the SCG.

Dhoni, who played a stellar role at No. 4 position in the 2011 World Cup final at the Wankhede Stadium, went to bat No. 6 this time.

Criticising Dhoni, Yograj said, "In the 2011 final, Yuvraj was going to bat but Dhoni stopped him and went to bat and became a hero. Why didn't he bat at No. 4 this time? Why did he go at No. 6? If he considers himself great, then he should have batted at No. 6 and guided India to a win against the Aussies."
Cursing Dhoni, Yograj said: "There will be a day when Dhoni will be left to beg and become penniless and would not get any favour."
